Rock The Bolt And Give Me A Low Five: Chargers vs Saints

Chargers Melvin Ingram against Saints Brees

Source: RantSports.com

Low Rookie Player: Melvin Ingram

Of course this is for the one play in the third quarter where Melvin hit Brees for a roughing the passer penalty. That penalty took away an interception pick six that Brees threw because of Melvin rushing Brees. This play jump-started the Saints offense toward the end of the third and for the rest of the game. The Saints ended up scoring a touchdown on that drive with 11 seconds left in the third quarter.

Low Veteran Player: Jared Gaither

The last two plays in the fourth quarter for the Chargers offense. Gaither got hurt and the Saints were able to sack Rivers, strip the ball, and get a turnover on Gaither’s side to kill the Chargers attempt to tie the game.

Low Special Teams Player: Richard Goodman

Many times throughout the game Goodman brought out the kick from deep in his own end zone. All he had to do was kneel and give the Chargers offense the start at the 20-yard line.

Low Offensive Players: Chargers Offensive Line Fourth Quarter

The offensive line on both right and left sides and some of the middle started letting the Saints get to Rivers more frequently. The line made Rivers hurry his throws, which were off target, and they started getting holding penalties.

Low Defensive Players: Chargers Defense Fourth Quarter

The Chargers defense started giving up runs on the ground to Pierre Thomas and couldn’t get off the Saints blocks on the screen passes. The secondary also gave up long passes down field which turned into points a couple plays later.
