The Chargers will start the season against the team they last played: the Oakland Raiders. You might remember that the Chargers handedly beat the Raiders in that game. You probably don’t remember, however, that the Raiders would have gone to the playoffs if they had won.
Carson Palmer remembers, although Chargers fans would probably be more worried if, specifically, Darren McFadden said he remembered. (And since he was injured, he actually might not remember.)
I digress.
Here’s the list of Chargers inactives for tonight’s game, according to Ricky Henne of Chargers.com:
• RB Ryan Mathews
• OT Jared Gaither
• TE Ladarius Green
• DT Antonio Garay
• LB Jonas Mouton
• S Brandon Taylor
The surprise here is linebacker Jonas Mouton, because the word was that he had an impressive camp. In any case, Demorrio Williams and Andrew Gachkar will backup Takeo Spikes and Donald Butler at inside linebacker. Also, since Antonio Garay won’t play, keep an eye on how Aubrayo Franklin and Cam Thomas perform at nose tackle. If they perform well, this could be the beginning of the end for Garay in San Diego.
