So What’s Next?

By now I think most Chargers Fans have already accepted the notion that the Chargers will not be making that end of the year win streak that has helped them succeed in years past, let alone a playoff appearance. So what’s next? Should we finish the season with the same personnel? Should the players or coaches be allowed to fail this bad?

In my honest opinion, the Chargers need to make coaching changes now. Not at the end of the season, not after another horrible season but now. My reasons are simple – why not get started on a different system and coaching staff? The new staff would get a clear view of this team and its players, pros and cons alike, and attempt to filter out weak links and start looking for players on free agency or next year’s draft. I’m not sure that will happen. Norv Turner is too comfortable being a lap dog for a GM that believes he is the reincarnation of Jesus himself. Let’s face it fans, our opinion don’t matter much in San Diego. Yesterday’s game was proof of the fraustration fans feel. Clearly you can hear fans yelling out “fire Norv Turner” and “Norv Turner sucks” as the commentators were trying to drown the noise. I believe this is the only way we, the fans, can get through to Dean Spanos. Hearing Chargers fans chant this at the remaining games might inspire change in the Chargers’ organization. The sad part of all of this is the change that might come might not be in personnel, it might just be a different city.

The first change should be in the firing of coach Manusky. I’m not sure who we can get at this point in the season but this change would assure Chargers fans that change is coming. At the end of the year Norv Turner should be let go to make way for an aggressive play caller. Of course I’m not even expecting this to happen with AJ Smith still at the wheel of this franchise that so desperatly needs a championship season before it retreats to Los Angeles.

Bolt Addicts, I’m looking for your opinions on what should happen next. Send me your comments and I’ll gladly respond. Talk to me, fans!
