Here’s news that isn’t. Athletes like porn stars. Well, I don’t think it’s limited to porn stars. Athletes like attractive women.
Did I just blow your mind?
Because apparently the national sports media was shocked to find out that Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots took a picture with a…wait for it, porn star.
Knock me over with a feather.
I literally don’t think I could care less if a single man takes a picture with some girl. Regardless of who that girl is and who that guy plays for. But in this case the girl in question does something scandalous (in some circles) for a living and the guy represents what is arguably the most important NFL team to the NFL (Don’t agree? No team is more protected by the NFL than the New England Patriots. What would have happened if the Seattle Seahawks had been caught in Camera-Gate? I assure you, it would have been worst.).
One picture, tweeted one time, has caused a media storm the likes of which only occur when there is literally nothing else to talk about. At some point this week, the following media outlets did a story about this picture:
USA Today
Huffington Post
Boston Herald
WEEI
CBSSports.com
Chicago Sun-Times
ESPN
Among others. Rob Gronkowski has had to apologize to Robert Kraft personally. He has been grilled by the media over what happened after the picture was taken, how he knew Bibi Jones, and why was she wearing his jersey. But why? Why should he have to apologize or answer to anyone? Is it somehow illegal to take a picture with a woman now? Was some law broken? Did someone get hurt by this incident?
America, for all it’s freedoms and rights, is still a Puritan-based society. Despite porns mainstream acceptance in so much of society (Entourage, music videos, etc.) it is still apparently taboo to some to be seen with members of the adult industry.
Except it isn’t taboo. It’s just something to talk about until Sunday.
