Game Day Question: Mini Cooper Anyone?

source: yahoosports.com

Preseason game three is going to be more like the battle of Kolb/Fitzgerald vs Rivers/Jackson. These pair of duos will be the main focus at this Saturday’s game between the Chargers and the Arizona Cardinals.

For the most part, I think Arizona’s Quarterback Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals makes a lot of sense. Plus, having a Pro-bowl Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald will make Kolb look like a stud. The Cardinals will also be keeping a close eye on Beanie Wells who will be taking the starting spot at Running Back, since Ryan Williams will be out for the season with a knee injury. Wells is now going to get the chance of taking a lead roll in Arizona. He would like to see more carries this year but the Cardinal’s offense have gone – and will – remain aerial for quite some time.

As for the Chargers, one big question remains. This player’s preseason game will give the coaches a good look at who might be replacing the injured Linebacker Stephen Cooper. Although we all think that is the main reason the Bolts signed the 10-year Linebacker Kevin Bentley and his super bowl experience.

Remember, the roster after this game will be cut to 80 and by September 3rd it should be a 53 man roster. This will be a good test for San Diego’s secondary. Bob Sanders, Eric Weddle and Quentin Jammer all have their work cut out for them. Fitzgerald is an amazing athelete and will cause havoc if Chargers are unable to contain him.

So the Game Day Question is: Who will step up as a leader and show he could fill the big shoes of Cooper? Cooper is the heart of our defense. He has age on his con side but he reads other teams’ defense plays like no other. It is going to take someone with just as big of a heart – if not bigger – to fill those shoes.

Please send us your comments and thoughts on this week’s “Game Day Question,” and tell us who will step up to the challenge this week. Hope to hear from all you Chargers Fans and Go Bolts!

I'm with Wolf. Spikes has the experience, leadership, familiarity with Coach Manusky's system and helped Patrick Willis to the player that he is today.

No Neck gets my vote. Takeo has the leadership skills to fill in.

Spikes Has it in the bag, but we have other players that should step up. We were going to have to do without Cooper anyways. These kids Barnes, English, Butler and others should be hungry enough to make this a competition. Heart of a Champion, do these Gus have it?
